Job summary
 
At this pivotal time, CHEO is seeking a Chief Talent Officer (CTO) to help write this next chapter of its story. Working closely with and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CTO is a key member of their senior leadership team. As an inspirational senior human resources leader, the CTO will develop and enact a vision and plan for talent that fosters a continuous improvement culture, seeks to empower staff and physicians to excel, and that values people, patients, and their families.
 
In a highly competitive global health human resources environment, CHEO is seeking a people and culture leader who will focus on growing the people they have, recruiting the people they need, and partnering with operational leaders to develop new ways to deploy the full range of staff and medical staff’s talents. The CTO will be a business partner with an active stake in strategic decision-making while providing pragmatic evaluation of strategies, projects, programs, and associated risks. They will implement a comprehensive people plan to support CHEO’s objective of recruiting, developing, retaining, and engaging the skills and health human resources required today and into the future. They will lead the adoption of best practices and champion ongoing modernization and automation of HR processes, in particular helping CHEO optimize its recent investment in a cloud-based ERP, Workday. They will continue to build and nurture strong internal and external relationships, including strong and effective labour relations.
 
Requirements
 
As the ideal candidate, you possess a minimum of 10 years’ HR leadership experience gained in a complex environment, and bring deep knowledge of talent management, compensation, labour relations, occupational, health and wellness, and talent acquisition. An inspirational leader, you are recognized for your ability to build, shape, and mentor high-performing teams, fostering a culture of teamwork, performance excellence, and accountability. A skilled and effective communicator, you have a track record of success identifying and proposing strategic solutions to fundamental problems that have long-term implications and are comfortable serving as an active and engaged voice at the senior management table. Your CHRP designation will serve you well in this role, as will your ability to communicate in English and French.
